Dr Christos Tryfonides after ophthalmology training, underwent extensive Subspecialty Fellowship training in 'Ophthalmic Plastic' and 'Reconstructive Surgery' (Oculoplastics) dealing with eyelid and lacrimal problems, performing surgery to manage these conditions: eyelid entropion and ectropion, trichiasis, eyelid lesions and tumors with excision and reconstruction of the eyelids, eyelid surgery (Χειρουργική Βλεφάρων Κύπρος, Βλεφαροπλαστικη Κύπρος), removal of xanthelasmae and dermoid cysts, punctoplasties and DCR for watery eyes (External and Endonasal endoscopic approach), evisceration for blind painful eyes, temporal artery biopsies for Giant Cell Arteritis diagnosis.
Oculoplastic cosmetic interventions are also undertaken such as upper/ lower lid blepharoplasty and blepharoptosis treatment with various techniques (Mullerectomies, Levator advancement, Frontalis slings), brow lifts, Botox and Filler injections for periorbital rejuvenation.
Dr Tryfonides manages in his daily practice:
- Dry eye syndrome with ophthalmic drops, punctal plugs, punctal ablation or temporary/permanent tarsoraphies
- Diabetic retinopathy
Macular degeneration – dry and wet AMD - Retinal vascular disease – vein or artery occlusions
- Glaucoma (Screening and Management)
- Conjunctival inflammations and allergies
- Corneal infections
- Cataracts (Modern Phacoemulcification)
- Pterygium (Excision and Autograft or rotational flap for minimizing recurrence)
- Eyelid, Lacrimal system and Orbital conditions as part of his Oculoplastic subspecialty
Dr Christos Tryfonides manages as part of his subspecialty (Oculoplastic surgery) a variety of eyelid, lacrimal and orbital conditions:
Eyelids:
- Eyelid ectropion and entropion repairs
- Blepharoptosis repairs with various techniques (Mullerectomies, Levator advancement, Frontalis slings)
- Upper and Lower lid blepharoplasty for dermatochalasis (cosmetic or functional)
- Xanthelasmae with excision or TCA
- Eyelid lesions (benign or malignant) with excision and reconstruction
- Trichiasis
Lacrimal – Watery eyes:
- Diagnosis of the causes of watery eyes in order to permit appropriate management
- Diagnostic Sac Washout
- Punctoplasties with 3-SNIP or Perforated Plugs and various stents
- Dacryocystorhinostomies (External or Endoscopic method) for Nasolacrimal duct Obstruction (NLDO)
- Probing and Irrigation with or without stents for congenital blocked tear ducts in infants with watery eyes due to nasolacrimal duct obstruction
Orbits:
- Blind painful eye management with various techniques including evisceration and enucleation
- Socket reconstruction in patients with artificial eyes
- Temporal artery biopsies for diagnosis of Giant Cell Arteritis
- Graves orbitopathy and exophthalmos management

Wide variety of conditions due to diverse population in the Greater Manchester area including eyelid tumors, lid malpositions (ectropion, entropion, ptosis, retraction, trichiasis), watery eyes and lacrimal system abnormalities (external and endonasal endoscopic DCR, punctoplasties, P&I), dry eye, orbital conditions including Thyroid Eye Disease (TED), tumors, infections. -Oculoplastic interventions and surgical procedures for the management of these diverse conditions as well as cosmetic surgery including upper and lower lid blepharoplasties, brow lifts, injectables (BTX & HA). -General ophthalmology clinics weekly.
