Dr. Hadjicostas is a Consultant General - Liver / Pancreas (HPB) and Advanced Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgeon experienced in new techniques and the use of new technology in Surgical Oncology, Liver and Pancreas Surgery, Surgical ICU and Transplantation Surgery. 

 

Dr. Hadjicostas has multi-years experience (23) in the Cyprus Ministry of Health - Nicosia General Hospital and Larnaca General Hospital - with last position being the Director/Chairman of the Department of Surgery. One of the pioneers in the development and establishment of Liver and Pancreas Surgery in Cyprus.

 

He was the first who developed the Liver Tumor Destruction Program (Radiofrequency Ablation-RFA) on a national basis (2004-2012). As an expert general surgeon Nicosia, he has teaching and training experience with Surgical Residents, Junior Doctors and Medical Students.

 

He is a National Representative of Cyprus in European Union in Organ Donation and Transplantation (2010-2017), with extensive and continuous training and learning in hospitals in the USA and UK.

Από τους πρωτοπόρους στην εισαγωγή και εφαρμογή της Νέας τεχνολογίας και Νέων Χειρουργικών μεθόδων κυρίως στην Χειρουργική | Ογκολογία.

 

Με εμπειρία 24 χρόνων στα Νοσοκομεία Λευκωσίας και Λάρνακας και 3,5 χρόνων ως Χειρουργός Μεταμοσχευτής στο ΠαρασκευαЇδειο Χειρουργικό και Μεταμοσχευτικό Κέντρο. Yπεύθυνος Χειρουργός της Χειρουργικής Μονάδας Εντατικής Θεραπείας (Surgical ICU) Γεν. Νοσοκομείου Λευκωσίας (1997 – 2006). Με εντολή και οδηγίες του Υπ.Υγείας, δημιουργεί και λειτουργεί το πρώτο Ιατρείο Παρακολούθησης Μεταμοσχευμένων Ήπατος σε παγκύπρια βάση(1996-2012).

 

Υπήρξε ο πρώτος που ανέπτυξε σέ εθνικό επίπεδο (2004- 2012) πρόγραμμα Καταστροφής Όγκων΄Hπατος (Ελάχιστα Eπεμβατική Mέθοδος / 75% χωρίς εγχείρηση/RFA-Radiofrequency Ablation). Αλλά και καταστροφή όγκων Παγκρέατος (Ανεγχείρητοι/τοπικά εκτεταμένοι). Σήμερα στό Ιπποκράτειο εφαρμόζεται η θεραπεία με RFA και μέ Nanoknife.

 

Ένας εκ των δύο Χειρουργών που για πρώτη φορά στην Κύπρο(1992) πραγματοποίησαν Παγκρεατεκτομή Whipple’s, για Καρκίνο Παγκρέατος και από τους κύριους πρωτεργάτες στην ανάπτυξη και εδραίωση τής Mείζονας Χειρουργικής Ήπατος στο Νοσοκομείο Λευκωσίας και Κύπρο.

 

Εξειδικεύτηκε και συνεχίζει να επισκέπτεται μεγάλα Ιατρικά Κέντρα κυρίως των ΗΠΑ και του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου αλλά και Γερμανίας, ενώ έχει διδάξει και εκπαιδεύσει σειρές νέων γιατρών, Eιδικευόμενων Χειρουργών, νοσηλευτές, φοιτητές Ιατρικής και συνεχίζει.

 

Πρώην πρόεδρος της Χειρουργικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου (2010-2012) και Εθνικός αντιπρόσωπος της Κύπρου/Υπ. Υγείας στην Ε.Ε για θέματα Δωρεάς Οργάνων και Μεταμοσχεύσεων( 2010-2017). Μέλος πολλών Διεθνών Επιστημονικών Χειρουργικών Εταιρειών, έχει προσκληθεί ώς Ομιλητής σε Συνέδρια,και έχει παρουσιάσει δεκάδες εργασίες και Δημοσιεύσεις σε Συνέδρια και Διεθνή Ιατρικά Περιοδικά((Medical Journals).
