Nail Surgery
Healthy Feet Center specialises in nail surgery or Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) for clients with severe ingrown toenail problems. Prior to the operation our podiatrists require a one hour assessment with full details of the surgery required. The procedure is completed under local anaesthetic, with a small section of the nail being removed including the growing area at the base. A chemical is then used to stop the nail re-growing. Patients will need to return for re-dressing. They will also need to rest the foot as much as possible and wear roomy shoes or sandals for a few days.
Foot care including, Corns and Calluses
Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin that develop when your skin tries to protect itself against friction and pressure. They most often develop on the feet and toes. Corns and calluses can be pretty ugly to see. If a corn or callus becomes very painful or inflamed, you should visit your Podiatrist. Your Podiatrist can pare down thickened skin or trim a large corn with a scalpel, usually during an office visit. Wearing properly fitting shoes, using protective pads and other self-care measures can help resolve these.
